Pierre Cuypers… many people would describe him as a successful man. Many of his buildings are still famous and admired today, including the Rijksmuseum and De Haar Castle. But what does success actually mean?
In this museum lesson, students investigate the concept of success and explore what it meant for Pierre Cuypers. They then examine who was truly responsible for his success. Was it Cuypers himself, or did the people and circumstances around him also contribute? In other words: was Pierre Cuypers made possible by others?
