Between August 25 and October 6, 2019, an exhibition and a crowdfunding campaign on Voordekunst.nl will convince visitors and interested parties that this reconstruction of the decorated ceiling is necessary.

The Right Moment

The Cuypers House will begin setting up a new permanent exhibition in early 2020. This is also the perfect time to restore the Cuypers ceiling and make it visible again to museum visitors.

The reconstruction will cost a total of €40,000. The Cuypershuis has secured funding to begin the preparatory work but needs assistance to restore the ceiling to its original form and color. An additional €17,500 is required for this, which will be raised through crowdfunding.

Reconstruction of the Cuypers Ceiling

The first phase of the reconstruction has already begun: the color analysis by Claudia Junge of SRAL (who is also responsible for the paintings in the Rijksmuseum). Quotes for technical aspects are ready, and for the final reconstruction of the ceiling, contact has been made with the vocational training program at SintLucas in Boxtel. By collaborating with students in the “Decorative and Restoration Painting” program, knowledge of Cuypers’ decorations is also being passed on to the next generation of restorers.

Funding is still needed for this final phase. Will you help bring color back to the Cuypers ceiling? Make your donation between August 25 and October 6, 2019, via: www.voordekunst.nl or drop off your donation at the Cuypershuis, Pierre Cuypersstraat 1 in Roermond.
