Design in the Footsteps of Pierre Cuypers
Pierre Cuypers’ legacy has found its way into all sorts of areas. To highlight and encourage this, the City of Roermond has been presenting the biennial design awards at the Cuypershuis since 2003. The Harrie Tillie Prize encourages young talent and honors the dedication of former curator Harrie Tillie. He established this prize specifically to spotlight art by young creators. In 2017, the Limburg Design Award was added to recognize talented established designers. Both awards focus on interior design, a discipline in which Cuypers excelled through his craftsmanship, substantive conviction, and attention to the client’s needs.
