The exhibition juxtaposes the production processes of stained-glass windows at Atelier Nicolas with the shoes by Art Shoe Mafia. The new shoe collection takes center stage as the collaborative end product. A photo essay provides insight into how this process—from concept through design and production to the finished product—works. As a reference to “the original,” a full-scale design drawing is on display.
Frans Nicolas’s studio also inspires the current generation of designers. The Maastricht-based shoe brand Art Shoe Mafia, in collaboration with the Social History Center for Limburg, the Roermond Municipal Archives, and Cuypershuis Roermond, is launching a collection of men’s shoes featuring sketches from the Nicolas studio in Roermond.
Art Shoe Mafia is a fashion brand with a colorful dose of flair and a collection of attractive yet accessible art shoes: shoes you can’t refuse. Shoes featuring designs by various artists and designers, allowing the brand to also serve as a platform for applied artistic talent.
