The exhibition tells the story of two centuries of design from Belgium and the Netherlands. The best designers and designs from both countries are highlighted side by side and in contrast—from Belgium’s refined craftsmanship to the Netherlands’ more conceptual design.
Through some 21 key themes, the exhibition illustrates how living culture, the economy, and politics have continuously shaped the evolution of design. Through works by Berlage, Van de Velde, Stockmans, Rietveld, Wolfers, Copier, and others, visitors are introduced to the design practices of the Netherlands and Belgium.
