Pierre Cuypers was the first Dutch architect of international significance in the modern era. He elevated Dutch architecture to an international level and influenced other renowned architects such as Hendrik Berlage.
Even though modern designers use different materials and production techniques, their work is often akin to that of Pierre Cuypers. Beauty, commitment, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and innovation are important to both. Every two years, the jury of the Limburg Design Award selects and nominates three contemporary designers who are active nationally and internationally. The new exhibition “Limburg Design Award” features contemporary interior designs by the design firms Formafantasma from Amsterdam-Noord, Overtreders W from Amsterdam-Oost, and Studio Drift from Amsterdam.
The “Harrie Tillie Prize” aims to stimulate the artistic development of talented designers. The prize honors its namesake, Harrie Tillie, the museum’s former curator. He was committed to providing a platform for young, talented artists. As part of this award, the interior designs of three nominated designers are on display: NOMAN studio from Amsterdam, Studio Sabine Marcelis from Rotterdam, and Jólan van der Wiel from Amsterdam.
