Cuypers House Surprised by Donation of Glass Negatives from a Private Archive

16 December 2016

Pierre Cuypers, the great-grandson of architect Pierre Cuypers (1827–1921), is deeply involved with the Cuypers House and the crowdfunding campaign “Bring Cuypers into the Spotlight!”

For great-grandson Pierre Cuypers, this campaign also served as an opportunity to search through the private archive. There he found two glass negatives that make an interesting addition to the Cuypers House collection. The glass negatives likely ended up in the family’s possession because of their subject matter. He believes it is important that all the glass negatives remain together. During the opening of the exhibition “Cuypers’ Glass Negatives,” he therefore donated them to the Cuypers House free of charge.

In the campaign video for “Bring Cuypers into Focus!”, he asks everyone to make a financial contribution toward the preservation of the collection of 800 glass negatives.
